If you’re hard up and have no cash, but don’t mind sitting through a few ads, Crackle might be the site for you. It provides a range of movies and shows to watch for free. However if you’re keen on quality you may wish to go elsewhere, as although some of the movies are pretty good ones, it offers no HD options and you probably won’t find every movie that you’re looking for. Even so, if you don’t mind the commercials and you’re not too fussy about what you watch, then this is a free entertainment option. 

Although a number of the movies available aren’t great, you can find some top titles including The Ides of March, Sol and Taxi Driver. You can locate movies by searching for them or simply by going to the week’s recommended titles. These have been categorised by their genre or themes, making it easier to find them and movies with similar concepts. Every movie page suggests other films that you might like based on what you’ve been enjoying to date, meaning you ought to be able to continue to watch similar movies if you choose.

Members may review movies and leave written comments, which is really useful if you’re not completely sure what to watch. Audio and sound quality is, however, not always great. Movies aren’t available in HD and the site is funded through advertisements, meaning that your viewing will be broken up by unwanted commercial breaks. Even though that can be annoying, the site has to make money somehow and the movies are provided for free, so we feel it offers excellent value for money, even if the true cost is your time and sanity. In short, this is a very valuable site if you want to watch shows and movies for free, however if you enjoy watching high quality movies for their atmosphere then you may not wish to try this site. The selection of movies is also rather limited in comparison to paid sites, and you’ll often find that you’ll need to just settle on a title that you might not be particularly keen to watch. 

Given that there aren't an enormous number of movies to choose from, the search function can seem a bit redundant at times. If they don’t have a movie then you can often still watch a trailer and read a little about it in the hope it will be added later or that you could find it elsewhere. All members are able to download a free app so that their movies can play more smoothly in their browser, but you cannot download any content so you’ll need to stay connected to the web to watch, making it a potentially poor option for anyone travelling without a decent internet connection. All in all this is a useful website for anyone who doesn’t mind sitting through advertisements, but if you’re a movie fan who doesn’t like interruptions then you probably won’t like Crackle.
