XFINITY is probably most well known for providing internet connections and services. It offers high speed internet for superior downloading and streaming options. Now you can also watch movies and TV shows through XFINITY On Demand, with thousands of videos to choose from, viewable from your TV set, computer or mobile device.
This might be a site with plenty of traffic but we’re not confident about everything its On Demand service has to offer. For starters, our research to see how much a movie costs (namely, “Hunger Games: Catching Fire”) found it had the most costly viewing price, around double for standard viewing and triple for HD viewing So what about the packages that are offered? The website is quite indistinct as to whether you need to pay for their internet connection to access their On Demand features, or not. Whilst their internet services appear to be very good they are also not predominantly low-priced.
The design of the site is quite poor. The homepage for movies is basically a gallery of movies which expands as you scroll down. You can perform a search or browse for a movie or TV show based on its genre, but the mechanisms of this could be made more apparent and simple. In comparison, we did like that they include an array of clips, trailers, interviews and additional information for many of their movies, which are enjoyable additions if you are interested in knowing more about what you’re watching. You can also check out ratings from a number movie reviews websites including Rotten Tomato and IMDB.
The selection of movies is fine but not superior to other websites. However, if you decide to take out a contract with xFinity.com then you can find out when movies are showing on the television, which is fairly useful. You can also purchase sports, Latino, family and live TV packages but we’d suggest taking a look at what’s on offer with each of them before you make a purchase. Help can be found online or you can contact the sales team directly.
We weren’t particularly amazed by Xfinity on Demand. Its site isn’t well organized, it offers a standard choice of movies, quality is variable and it’s expensive. If you already have an internet connection with them, or you’re interested in getting one with them, and you’re also looking for a movie package then they might be worth your time and money. Otherwise we feel that you can find better quality viewing for less money.
