This is sad enough to make you cry. I've spent a lot of pleasurable hours in Best Buy stores, and prior to the emergence of Amazon, et. al., Best Buy was a great place to buy media, especially on release dates. However, it is painfully evident that they attempted to enter this arena without much more than the media. Their infrastructure is functional only to the point of frustration. The procedures and rules around playback, devices, and all of the components are much more rigid and confusing than any similar service. The error messages are generic enough to increase frustration levels. One standard message received by customers after paying for disc to digital service, that will update SD DVD content to HD digital, is "While you are licensed for the HD version...it is not currently available. Would you like to view or download the SD version instead?" When you call, the support staff will freely admit it is a known problem, that they are trying to fix, but it doesn't keep them from advertising and offering the service on the home page.
I have three times attempted to view early release purchases or... (Read the full review)

i downloaded a movie to my computer a couple months ago, i just tried to watch it and a pop up window with a log in screen appeared. apparently you have to sign in to cinemanow to watch movies that you download to your own computer. that's BS...
i also have tried burning a DVD of the movies that i have downloaded. cant watch them on any DVD player. IE..PS3 or any DVD player. i contacted customer support and they shut down my account for 3months. they told me i downloaded the movies in mpeg4 format, that should work with a PS3. after they said that i took a screen shot of my PC with the movie's properties. they didn't respond. they suck a55....
i am so tired of big corp. wasting my time. but mostly i'm tired of just how f-ing scandalous they are.

I usually do not write reviews but feel compelled too because you (as a potential consumer) need to know that I have had a very bad experience with them.
My story, in short...
Purchased 3 episodes out of a 22 episodes tv series over a 3 night period. Went back on the 4 the night and no tv episodes, including the 4-22 of the one I wanted to view, were showing on my internet connected panasonic device.
I called technical support - the 1-877 number - the tek guy did what he could and then said he had to escalate the case to 2nd level tek support & I would be notified by email of the solution within 24 hours.
24 hours later - no email....and the situation was still the same - not fixed. I called into customer service again - same situation - they said had to escalate to 2nd level tek support and said I would see an email within 24 hours. 3rd day same situation. 4th day same situation. i.e. no episode 4-22 and no tv series at all. In fact my wish list was showing 5 of the 15 movies i placed on them and the movie rental section... (Read the full review)

Not Customer Friendly

As Amazon and Netflix users, our family decided to try CinemaNow with a movie that had not been available on other services yet. Poor streaming made it a chore to get through the movie. Other services sometimes stall, but this was unbelievably bad. We did a review and told CinemaNow about the problem. No response to the review. We emailed the company and told them the problem and told them to close our account. Their email response was simply that they would close the account and sorry for the inconvenience. A canned response that did nothing to make us want to reconsider. I would not recommend their services.

I used it to watch a movie streaming to my Sony Blu Ray player. Movie kept buffering throughout. Don't have this problem with Netflix. Very frustrating. Movie was "Giant" which is over 3 hours long. Very annoying. I will not use this service again.

I was very excited about finding this website but we could barely watch each episode because it buffered the entire movie every 4 minutes. We have a very good wireless modem and have had no other issues, but this was a very frustrating movie night!!

The worst experience ever. We tried to download a movie and it was nowhere to be found. We tried to find a way to contact them and no numbers to be found that worked. We tried the online chat, but I think we got Peggy from Capital One. No help there. Basically this guy name Delon said "Sorry can't help" and then immediately disconnected. We tried again about an hour later and got the same guy, Delon, and asked a different question and he gave us the same answer as the first time. Obviously it is not a real person. We finally found a number to call and the person briefly help. We told him to hold on, so we could make sure it worked and then he hung up on us anyways. The most incompetent service I have ever experienced. Don't try this unless you have 3 hours out of you day to waste. One would be better off by just punching themselves in the face. Oh, PS, We called Bestbuy to get help, because we purchased this movie download through the deal of the day. Once you purchase this, you have to download it through their sister company,... I had a membership over a year ago. I was kinda confused to the streaming/loading since there was no communication as to when it started after I paid to click to rent/watch it. I had to go through the whole frustrating process again. I finally went to my library to see if it was there, for a while it wasn't, then it showed up and later, for some reason, I finally got a message it was loading. Took that long to realize it was loading. My credit card info. was stolen not too long after that membership so I had to narrow it down and this site has no safety signs of our credit card info. so I felt my credit card info. could have been stolen from this site so I deleted all that info. and got new credit card number. Will not set up payment again until they prove they are safe and offer paypal.
In summary, I would recommend CinemaNow to a friend.
